Our Story
What We’re All About
Little Souls Montessori Preschool adheres to a holistic approach of early childhood education. We follow each child at their pace and the sensitive period they are currently in, in their stage of development. When we expose children to different environments and various learning experiences, we allow them to explore their self-awareness and gain a sense of the world around them. We encourage learning through all the senses, incorporating the whole child in their learning. Once they leave our Preschool, they’re fully prepared for the next stage of their young lives.
Mission Statement
Quality Child Care
From language and literacy development to social skills and creative expression, the children at Little Souls Montessori Preschool are constantly being exposed to new activities and environments in which to thrive. We build on the strengths and interests of each child to help build a solid foundation where they can develop their futures. Get in touch to learn more about us.
FAQ
Is this a Special Needs School?
It is not a school for Special Needs children. We try and accommodate all children, but we are not qualified to work with children who have extra needs. It is best to find a school with staff better equipped and qualified.
I hear Montessori schools don't have structure?
The Montessori curriculum definitely has structure. Children are free to move around and choose their activities from the shelf, but there are rules that need to be followed. They are not allowed to disturb or disrupt the class, they need to respect the work equipment, they are responsible for packing away the equipment in the correct place and neatly, as they found it.
What does child-centred mean?
Child-centred means the shelves, tables and chairs are all the right size for the children. Everything is accessible at their height. They are encouraged to be independent - so if they make a mess, they learn how to clean and tidy it up with equipment that is perfect for their size.
Do you physically follow the child around when you say you "follow the child"?
No, we don't. Follow the child means we observe the child in the environment, and we show them activities that will stimulate their interest. If a child is showing an interest in dinosaurs, we will use that interest in numeracy or literacy to encourage and futher their learning. Each child develops at a different pace and has interests in different areas, so through observation we can adapt the curriculum to suit each child, and ensure they are developmentally ready for the next phase of their life.
